Celebrate Life!

With so many problems to confront, it is easy to let our power and control be dictated by such concerns.  That’s not how we want to live.  I know when I let myself be controlled by circumstances, things get out of hand very quickly.

There is a loving, joyous energy that abundantly exists around us at all times.  Even in the worst of possible times, light shines.  If you are unfamiliar with the story in Viktor Frankl's book, Man’s Search for Meaning, it is an excellent way to see how our personal issues pale in comparison to those of others.

How to Get What You Want

The way to get what you want is to give.  For many people, this is contrary to what we’ve been accustomed to.  Some folks take what they want, forcing others into submission.  We’ve been taught that success is about making the kill. Glory seems to always require another’s defeat.

What if we discovered that the greatest of victories came when everyone wins?  When it comes to scoring, there gets to be a victor and in the truest spirit of gamesmanship, there are no losers.  We all want to come out on top; the surest way to the top is giving.

Levels of Commitment

I don’t care and I don’t care that I don’t care.”  That’s the lowest level of commitment.  Just above that: “I won’t do it and you won’t make me.”  Greater commitment will reveal that the highest level is reached when:
I’m willing to alter the universe to make it happen.
I don’t know about you, but I have a great time when I’m committed to the things I can do to help others.  Let’s be honest, “what’s in it for me” is a major motivator.  It’s in the serving of others that we can find ways to make a difference.

Say What You Mean, Do What You Say

If you are passionate about something, say it!  We worry way too much about the thoughts of others.  Telling the truth is far less harmful than the potential hurt to our ego.  There are people that push limits, knowing that most folks won’t speak up, getting away with their words and actions.
When we wonder what happened, it is often due to ineffective communication, by those that fear retribution.  The time has now come to put a stop to it.  We owe it to the growth of others to let them know that what they do and say isn’t working.

Finding Our Own Way

It’s my way or the highway.  Ever had to deal with that?  Ever discovered that you were the one issuing this condition?  When we follow another’s path, we can acquire useful tools.  Yet, when it is our path, that’s when the learning gets set at the cellular level.
We all know the difference between knowledge that we have so deep that we can access it instantaneously versus knowledge that we must scour for or likely have forgotten.  Many of my clients start with a desperate need for direction.  It’s about claiming your path and getting on the road towards it!

Open Up Your Cup

The degree to which we receive is equal to the degree to which we are open to receiving.  I ask clients to envision the small cup by placing their hands at their temple with fingers sticking up; like antlers.
